Stampede oil 20 x 48

While on a field trip to Yellowstone, I heard that my painting, "Stampede" won the Hirem Blauvelt purchase award at this year's Society of Animal Artists annual Exhibition. Of course I am thrilled and I would like to thank Jan Martin McGuire for letting us know, and all the lovely congrats from so many artist friends. I really appreciate this.

Right, that's the last straw Matthew - I'm spending the kids' inheritance and going to Africa! Fantastic painting!

Ha ha, I saw your comments on Julia's blog. Seriously you will never regret going to Africa. It's a life changing experience. The hard thing is when your wife gets to go and you are left looking after the family!!That really sucks!!
Thanks , I'm so glad you like the painting.

Matthew, there's a slim chance I'll be able to give serious thought to a trip next year - complete with wife! Given that it's probably a once in a lifetime event, I obviously want to get value for money. If you were an aspiring wildlife artist hoping to view a range of species and collect a bunch of reference photos, which area would you head for?
