"Clam dredging" (on Leeds Creek in November) 9 x 12' oil

Julia and took advantage of the glorious few days we had after the Waterfowl Fest in November. As we  sailed out of Leeds Creek and into the Miles, we came across this workboat vacuuming up long necked clams. It was just  gorgeous,  surrounded with sparkles and the autumn colors.

Summer Storm...22 x 36 oil

This is a slightly more contemporary painting. I wanted to try and capture the drama
and atmosphere through simple bands of color. With just a few large drops of rain as If you are looking at the storm through a large window (My mom's, to be precise)

Mini 6 x 6 show at the South Street Guild....

We had a fun mini show at the South Street Guild in Easton last night. All the artists did two 6 x 6 paintings, We framed them all the same way (Black gold chunky frames). The show looked great and sales were pretty good. I sold both mine plus an extra one I painted just in case.(actually I painted three extra ones, I got carried away with the theme)

"Uprising in the Marsh" oil 51 x 45''

I have just finished this painting . It's rather large, In fact way too big to fit in y car....thank goodness for neighbors with trailers!! It was quite a challenge. One of my students kept telling me to go to Assateague to see the birds and wild ponies. What an Incredible place. I came across a large flock of Egrets and gulls which burst out of the Salt marsh as I approached. I just had to paint them. What she didn't tell me about were the legions of mosquitos, horse flies and sheep flies which made it Impossible to hang about on the marsh. I am delighted that this painting just won the the "Artists choice award" at this year's Waterfowl Festival in Easton MD.

Summer Morning on the Creek oil 12 x 18 SOLD

Late Summer mornings on the creek can be very busy. The watermen are at the height of the Crabbing season.

"Missing You" oil 24 x 18

It was one of those early Fall days wet claggy and humid. My son began drawing on the windows. I loved the way you could see bits of the Creek through the wiped condensation. Gradually the wiped areas dripped and began to mist over.Very Inspiring!

"Angel in the Mist" oil 24 x 18'' Great Egret SOLD

Sorry I have been very naughty and haven't posted any paintings for ages. Here's a few to make up for my absence.
I love Autumn mists that seem to dance across the water as the sun rises. I watched a mixed group of herons and egrets feeding in the early morning with the mist rising around them. It was quite beautiful.

Great Blue Heron 18 x 8''oil

I completely forgot about this Heron painting. He's my favorite subject. He's always in the Creek opposite our house. I like to sneak up on him occasionally... This is the result.

Ocean Majesty oil 24 x 48''

Another Ocean painting. I wanted to show the power of the wave as it crashes towards the beach. I chose to focus on the water rather than the birds in this painting.

Well It's taken a while, but finally I have finished my Peacock. It will become the center piece for my upcoming one man show at the Academy Art Museum in Easton. Now I have to frame the thing....Arghhhh!

Messy Studio!!

I really need to take a large shovel and clean out my Studio. All I can do is stand in the doorway. I even have a half barrel full of tropical fish with orchids overhanging the barrel. Paintings stacked everywhere, waiting to go off to shows. It has got to the point where I can no longer function.... Here's the proof!!

"Great Egret" 24 x 48 oil

I love evening light on waves breaking on the beach. I saw this down in Florida. It's not such a common sight to see Great Egrets on the foreshore. There is a bit more work to do but I thought I would post it while I had the camera handy. I haven't come up with a title yet.
