I'm very proud of this painting. It was a study in mid tones. They don't show in the photo, but It's all warms, cools and neutrals.

This shows from start to finish....I drew the shapes with a brush using a simple mix of transparent colors. I do a lot of wiping at this stage. As you can see the shapes are rather crude. I perfect them as the painting progresses.

I love looking down on shallow water.  I have done another version of this using a different shape and colors but It was fun revisiting this Idea. This time I kept the water a lot looser.

Before I undertake a painting I do thumbnails in which I play around with Ideas, composition etc. They are so useful. I thought I would post a few from time to time.

A couple of Eagles!!!! 30 x 30'' oil

Here are 2 of my  triptic, Now I just have to paint the large guy in the middle carrying the goose head! They are painted on cradles. The large one will be 30 x 60 '' which means I will be making a large cradled board. Last time I tried this I had already finished the painting and got glue all over the poor painting!! what a dummy!!!

I spent almost a week watching a pair of eagles eating a goose on the Ice in front of my house. I thought it would be fun to do a series of 3 paintings showing the eagle with the goose. I have painted 2 of the 3 paintings.
